Each day, PARMA has the pleasure of working with artists who bring a unique energy, talent, and perspective to the music world, and we enjoy getting to dive deeper into conversation with these artists. We recently had the chance to catch up with cellist Jeremy Harman in between his busy touring, recording, and teaching schedule. Jeremy is a renowned cellist, composer, and member of NYC-based Sirius Quartet — one of the three performers in PARMA’s Winter 2019 Call for Scores. We discuss the quartet’s latest tours in Europe and on a cruise ship down the coast of Africa, the secrets to a successful and compatible string quartet, and what Jeremy is most looking forward to about this round of Call for Scores. The Call for Scores involves both the recording of a multi-composer string quartet album and the performance of these works at one of America’s premier recording halls.
Can’t wait until this album is recorded to hear Sirius perform? Sirius Quartet will also be performing works from a previous Call for Scores on March 7 at a one-of-a-kind concert at the DiMenna Center in New York City, which you can discover and purchase tickets for here.
Thank you to Jeremy for sharing your time with us, and PARMA is looking forward to this Call for Scores and all future collaborations with Sirius Quartet!
