PARMA is pleased to announce our partnership with the Atlanta Chamber Players in this year’s Rapido! Competition Contest.
The Rapido! Contest was founded in 2009 by the Atlanta Chamber Players & the Antinori Foundation as a means for promoting new chamber music compositions.
Composers will have 14 days to write a 4-6 minute film score. 15 regional semifinalists will have their works performed at regional concerts in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, and San Francisco, and five finalists will have their works performed at the National Finals Concert in Atlanta in February 2015.
One national winner will receive a two-week residency at the Hambridge Center for the Arts in Georgia. The first prize winner will also receive a $7,500 commission to expand his or her work to be performed by the Atlanta Chamber Players, Boston Musica Viva, Fifth House Ensemble, Voices of Change, and the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble in Fall 2015. The commission will also include a new work to be premiered by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in Spring 2016.
Here’s a video for composers from last year’s competition:
PARMA will be recording the premiere performance of the expanded chamber work and digitally releasing the winning film score to online vendors via Naxos.
Registration opens on April 28th and closes on June 2nd. The first 100 registrants will be eligible for the contest, and composers of any age are invited to register.
