PARMA Artist Spotlight: Carl Vollrath

Long time PARMA artist Carl Vollrath has signed on to record his orchestral work “And Bugles Sang” with PARMA and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Carl is a graduate of Stetson University, Columbia University, and received his ED.D from Florida State University. From 1953-1956 he served as a member of the West Point Military Band in West Point, NY. In 1965 Carl joined the faculty of Troy University in Troy, AL where he taught until he retired in 2015.

Before his collaborations with PARMA Carl released several albums including a 2-disc set of works for clarinet performed by PARMA artist Richard Stolzman entitled Jack’s Fat Cat.

“And Bugles Sang” will complete Carl’s fourth release with PARMA Recordings. His recent releases have ranged from duets to concerti for piano and orchestra. His latest album THREE PASTELS drew inspiration from the different ways one could interpret the same color.

Carl’s previous PARMA releases PAST RECOLLECTIONSLINGERING LONGINGS, and THREE PASTELS are all available on Navona Records.
