“Since the announcement of this project, I’ve had a lot of people ask me why PARMA, a commercial recording company and record label parent, would support a project that is in some ways antithetical to the company’s mission and that of the industry as a whole,”
says Bob Lord, CEO of PARMA Recordings.
“But our company’s mission isn’t to sell music, it is to bring great art to new listeners, and lowering the barrier to entry is a key component of that mission. There shouldn’t be any ‘rules of engagement’ when it comes to listening to music, and I believe this project will highlight that point.”
The project is being funded by a Kickstarter campaign right now. The campaign is looking to do more than just “set Bach free,” it is looking to help create over 50,000 scores for the visually impaired.
