PARMA Recordings is so excited to welcome composer Helen MacKinnon to the PARMA Family!
Helen studied music at The University of Glasgow, specializing in composition with Scottish composer William Sweeney where she earned her First Class Honors Bachelor of Music.
In 2015 Helen began composing professionally and was awarded at the 2nd International Competition of Choral Composition Ennio Morricone during the Florence International Choir Festival for her setting of “Gloria in excelsis Deo.”
Recent collaborations and choral commissions include working with The University of Oxford, as part of an international Women and the Canon International Conference, a new commission as part of Perth Festival of the Arts, and a national promotion on BBC Radio Scotland’s Janice Forsyth Show. This past fall Helen joined the Perth Festival of the Arts Executive Committee.
In addition to her work as a composer, Helen has also sung with Perth City Operatic Group and Perth Amateur Operatic Society where she enjoyed the first principal role in the Broadway musical Titanic and a cancan dancing grisette Jou-Jou in The Merry Widow.
