PARMA is pleased to welcome pianist, composer, and conductor Eliane Rodrigues to our roster of artists!
Eliane Rodrigues began making music at the age of three and gave her first recital when she was five. Her studies took her from her native Brazil to performances and competitions in the United States and Europe, where she won the special prize at the Van Cliburn competition at age 18 and came in fifth place in the Queen Elizabeth competition in 1983.
Now based in Belgium, Eliane continues to tour as a pianist and has taught at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp for over two decades. Eliane is also a key figure in the Música Romântica Festival in Switzerland’s Saas Valley, which wrapped up its 2017 events earlier this month.
Eliane’s Navona Records debut, NOTTURNO will be released in October and features a full collection of Frédéric Chopin’s ballads and nocturnes for solo piano. Following NOTTURNO will be a digital release of Beethoven’s eight concerti for piano and orchestra later this year, as well as an album of Claude Debussy’s solo piano works in 2018.
Stay tuned for more updates — in the meantime, you can meet Eliane via the Vimeo player below, where she handles a potentially devastating live performance situation with humor and grace.
