Please join us in welcoming trombonist Deb Scott to the PARMA family! We are very excited to announce that we will be working with Scott on her first solo recording this year.
Active as both a performer and clinician in both classical and jazz, Scott is a Rath Trombones artist who performs frequent solo recitals and with bands and orchestras. She has also been featured on the Canadian radio broadcast, Women in Brass. She has performed with numerous orchestras including the Twentieth Century Unlimited Orchestra in Santa Fe, the New Mexico Music Festival Orchestra in Taos, the Shreveport Symphony (Louisiana), the Lubbock Symphony (Texas), the Greeley Philharmonic (Colorado), and the Longview Symphony (Texas). Above her performance history, Scott was the first woman to complete her doctorate in trombone performance from the University of North Texas.
Scott is now the professor of trombone at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She and the SFASU trombone choir have been featured at the International Trombone Association Convention.
Known for her highly technical performance skills, Scott’s release will feature a new adventurous piece composed for her by PARMA composer Stephen Lias, entitled River Runner. Lias, an adventurer-composer for the U.S. National Park service, wrote the piece after a kayaking trip they shared in Big Bend National Park. Pianist, Ron Petti, will accompany her. Other well-known favorites to be included are Derek Bourgeouis’ Trombone Concerto, William Goldstein’s Colloquy, and Herbert L. Clark’s Carnival of Venice. You can hear more of Scott’s playing below – keep an eye out for updates on her release!
