My name is Christina Rusnak.

Where are you from?
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri I live in Portland Oregon.

What do you do?

I wear a couple of hats. I started composing music at age 9, and am an active chamber, jazz and choral composer. Additionally, work as a cultural planning consultant helping communities to bring culture and arts into public spaces.

Tell us about your Love and Death in Havana Project? Where did the title originate from?

I’d written Dearly Beloved for a family member’s wedding 5 years ago for women’s acapella choir. It’s a blending of the wedding ceremony and asides from the wedding couple and their guests. An opportunity to record music in Cuba came up and I applied for it. The piece was selected to be recorded by the ensemble Vocal Luna in Havana, and I was asked to compose a companion piece…
